‘Sawyer’s Dust II’ delves into the reevaluation of artifacts—objects meticulously crafted by humans to serve distinct purposes. Departing from my prior installations crafted from “real” materials like crocodile skins, urchins, and barkcloth, ‘Sawyers’ Dust II’ aims to redefine the portrayal of the endangered or extinct sawfish. It represents an endeavor to envision a future where artifacts transform into the artificial, everything subject to modification, prompting contemplation about our connection to the imperative to create artifacts in a world where our species may face an uncertain survival.
