As economies grow and material fulfillment improves, people lose touch with the ebbs and flows of nature. Materialistic culture perpetuates the illusion that the environment is ours to own and control. Although the illusion is fading, most people sit and wait for more evidence that we have taken a saw to the branch we sit on. Many people are busy considering the odds we might fall. And then there are some, who carry the load of responsibility on their shoulders, bones aching and bodies sinking. These people know first hand it’s an urgent matter of life and death.

This series of photographs illustrate the load of responsibility for regaining the balance between people and nature. The models balance trays of medical plants, vegetables, absorbers of greenhouse gasses, greens for mental health and rice, the source of life for millions.
