Potong Waktu / Slicing Time

stainless steel, aluminum, ribbons, chains, leather

2014

This work is part of a series that relates to the notion of Time. ‘Potong Waktu’ or ‘Slicing Time’ concerns our experience of time including our memory of Time.We only remember the outstanding moments in time; the extremes; the best and the worst, which then creates our notion of time. This also relates to how we perceive history; extreme moments in time are often remembered certaintly and often black and white symplicity. I used the scissors as a symbol of a sharp cut, slicing time into parts. Each cut or slice represents a moment in time.
