The Buddha of Prosperity’s fat belly is the underlying theme for these costumes. In Southeast Asia, the Buddha of Prosperity is popularly known as the ‘Fat-Bellied Buddha’. The belief is that offering money to the Buddha of Prosperity will bring its worshipper good luck, wealth and protection. It reflects one of mankind’s main aims in life: to evolve from being into well-being. This search for prosperity and well-being is rooted in our genes and psyches.
