‘Under Cover’ attempts to address sexual taboos. Due to the sensitivity of such issues, I attempted to create a form that would encourage dialog instead of confrontation. In the performance, I introduced a “sexy” cooking session, instead of blatantly showing nudes. A wok with a hole in it and bananas are used in an erotic play. Art tingles the senses; we experience it through language and literature, religion, as well as through food and sex.
I made this performance in 2000 and recreated it in 2015. The performance was presented in a tent that the audience had to peep into.
