The Buddha of Prosperity's fat belly is the underlying theme for these costumes. The Buddha of Prosperity is also popularly known as the “Fat-Bellied Buddha” in Southeast Asia . It is based on the belief that offering money to the Buddha of Prosperity will in turn bring good-luck, wealth and protection to the giver or worshipper. This reflects one of mankind's main aims in life, which is to progress from being into well-being. This search for prosperity and well-being is rooted in our genes and psyches. >> Exhibited at: ‘The Shelter', Valentine Willie Fine Art, Kuala Lumpur (2004), ‘Art Summit', National Gallery, Jakarta , Indonesia (2004) |
